1970, SAAB proposed an improved SAAB 105XT variant designated the "SAAB 105XH", for the Swiss market, the "XH" standing for "Export Helvetia",. The 105XH featured a built-in 30 millimeter Aden cannon in a fairing under the fuselage; slender fixed wingtip fuel tanks with a capacity of 200 liters (53 US gallons) each; improved avionics, including a Doppler radar altimeter in the tail and a SAAB BT9R precision-bombing / laser rangefinder system in a reprofiled nose; and a brake parachute.
